Dir. Mel Stuart, 1971, 1 hr 40 mins
Based on the 1964 children’s classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl, Mel Staurt's Academy Award nominated film stars Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka in one of his most memorable roles. 5 lucky children win golden tickets hidden amongst billions of Wonka bars and are granted a tour of Wonka's world-renowned, and previously highly secret, candy factory. The film then unfolds it's exploration of innocence and honesty with wicked humour in a psychedelic wonderland full of chocolate rivers, lickable wallpaper, and the tiny orange-skinned workers known as Oompa-Loompas.
